Trip to the CLC

We took a trip as a class to the CLC in order to learn how to use garageband. This trip was important because with our 2 minute opening film's we are composing a piece of music to go along with it.

We decided we would go for an eerie sounding type of music. So we went through the sounds on iMovie on the Apple Mac's exploring for a suitable piece to accompany our piece.

We found this a little bit difficult because we have decided to refilm our 2 minute opening so we were unaware of what sort of pace we would need our music. However we did have an idea of what we were going to film so bearing that in mind we searched through the music to find something appropriate. We found some snippets of music that we thought we work really well, we wrote these down so we could then remember them when we got back to school.

I found garageband quite easy to use and quite enjoyable too. I'm looking forward to composing a piece of music to go along with our two minute opening as music really does make a difference to moving images. Sitting and watching something without music doesn't often give out the same atmosphere as watching something with music to go alongside with it. Music can build tension, add humour and can give out all different signals to its audience making them relate to what they are watching.

As i previously said in my post about Se7en, the music to the opening credits of that really created a gloomy type of atmosphere. The group i'm working with on our coursework piece all agree that the music in se7en is worth listening to as we may be able to compose something of a similar sound, basing it around se7en.
